SPRAY FOAM: SAFE, SIMPLE AND SUSTAINABLE

Looking for a cost effective and above all safe and simple solution to contribute to better world?  Time to discover the possibilities for insulation with sprayed foam: it is quick and easy to apply, safe to use and contributes to a lower energy consumption, without any compromise on living comfort.

Sprayed foam is increasingly used as an insulation material in existing and new homes. Especially now that the demand for energy-neutral and even passive construction continues to increase. For example, all new homes in France must even be built energy positive from 2030. That means maximum insulated houses, without heat loss through cracks, junctions or thermal bridges and equipped with a balanced ventilation system. The advantages of sprayed polyurethane foam speak for themselves. Managing Director Ronald Udo: “It is of course unique, we now achieve the same insulation value with new HFO sprayed foam, but with 25% less volume thickness, compared to former HFC sprayed foams. So much less space, less time and yet maximum isolation.” Moreover, the use of foam is completely free of junctions. “And no lack of insulation material means no thermal leaks.”

“No cracks, lacks nor bad junctions = no thermal leaks”

It is not only the powerful insulation value that offers a major advantage, Ronald explains. Processing is also easier and considerably faster than usual for a more stable result. These are advantages that offer a head start in daily practice, for example in renovation projects where uneven thickness floors are often encountered. But the advantages of sprayed foam are also striking in new construction projects. The gain is mainly in uniformity and speed. “Immediately after laying the pipes and cables, the insulation can be applied. An additional screed for sealing or leveling is not necessary. The foam forms and adheres well around the cables and pipes and protects them. This not only means a higher insulation value, but also up to 3 weeks extra saving on drying time for the intermediate screed.”

The PLIXXENT foam is distinguished by its high quality and stability. It adheres to the other materials and forms a whole. It remains stable both thermally and mechanically. Moreover, cold bridges are permanently eliminated, because the foam is applied on site and thus seals the insulated surface airtight: no thermal breakage and a constant insulation value!

SUSTAINABLE BLOWING AGENT, ALREADY THE STANDARD

Polyurethane consists of two components. In combination with a so-called blowing agent, this forms a foam. For the production of polyurethane, PLIXXENT uses as much as possible natural raw materials that are not suitable for the production of foodstuffs, such as plant residues. The blowing agent used is hydrofluoroolefin, HFO. At PLIXXENT, HFO is the standard that replaces the more environmentally harmful HFC (hydrofluorocarbons). HFO is a blowing agent that is rapidly broken down in the environment.
